Welcome to my cosy garden studio in Elsenham near Bishops Stortford, where newborn sessions are relaxed, unhurried and completely baby-led. There's plenty of time for feeds, cuddles and settling your baby, so everyone can enjoy a calm and stress-free experience. With a beautiful selection of wraps, blankets and carefully chosen props in a variety of colours, we can create timeless images that you'll treasure for years to come.

First and foremost, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment, where your baby's safety and comfort is my top priority. I will work with you to create a personalised session that captures your baby's unique personality and features. I will guide you through the process, ensuring that you feel comfortable and confident throughout the shoot.

My cosy garden studio in Elsenham has everything you need for a relaxed newborn session. The studio is kept lovely and warm to help your baby feel comfortable and settled throughout the session, and I also use a heated posing mat to keep them cosy while they're being photographed. With a beautiful selection of wraps, blankets and carefully chosen props ready to use, you can simply sit back, relax with a tea or coffee, and enjoy watching your baby's first professional photographs being created. There's plenty of time for feeds, cuddles and settling if needed, so the whole experience is calm, unhurried and completely baby-led.

FAQ

When should I book my newborn photography session?

If you're thinking about booking a newborn session, it's always worth getting in touch while you're pregnant. This gives you the chance to ask any questions and lets me know to expect your enquiry.

I usually prefer to arrange the session once your baby has arrived. As we all know, babies have their own plans and due dates don't always mean much! Once your little one is here, just send me a message and we'll find a suitable date, ideally within the first two to three weeks.

If you'd rather book in advance, that's absolutely fine too. I'll make a note of your due date and we'll confirm the exact session date once your baby has arrived.

How old should my baby be for their newborn photography?

Your newborn photoshoot should ideally take place in the first 2 weeks after birth. However, it's perfectly acceptable for a newborn shoot up to 6 weeks of age. I will adapt the session to suit the baby's age.

What if my baby doesn't sleep for their newborn photography session?

Don't worry if your baby doesn't sleep for the whole session – or even at all! Every newborn is different, and all of my sessions are completely baby-led. I always work at your baby's pace, allowing plenty of time for feeds, cuddles and settling if needed.

While sleepy babies are usually easier to pose, awake babies can be just as beautiful to photograph. Bright eyes, little stretches, tiny yawns and curious expressions often make for lovely natural images that parents treasure just as much.

For your baby's safety, some poses and props are only suitable when they are in a deep sleep. If your little one would rather stay awake, I'll simply adapt the session and choose poses and setups that are comfortable, safe and work best for them.

The most important thing is that your baby is happy and comfortable, and we'll create a beautiful gallery regardless of whether they sleep or stay awake.

What should I bring to my newborn session?
Please bring along anything special to the baby that you may wish to have in a photo, eg a special blanket or teddy. Make sure that you have plenty of nappies and feeds available and a white vest can also be handy.

How long does a newborn photoshoot last?

Every baby is different, so the length of a newborn session can vary. My aim is to complete your session within 90 minutes, which is usually plenty of time to capture a beautiful selection of images.

However, newborns don't always stick to a schedule! Some babies may need extra time for feeding, cuddles or settling, so I always allow flexibility. While most sessions are finished within 90 minutes, it's a good idea to allow up to 3 hours just in case your little one needs a little extra time.

If siblings are joining the session, I do my best to keep everything moving smoothly so they don't become bored. If your baby is particularly unsettled, I'll adapt the session to make the most of our time together while ensuring everyone has a relaxed and enjoyable experience.

Can I have family and sibling photos with my newborn?

Absolutely, yes you can.
